Hair challenges 2020

Challenge 1: no trim Challenge 2: a capillary schedule I chose Middle and high porosity hair  because hair beyond butt length should tend to be medium poros. I don't know if it's true, but I chose the middle between low porosity CC and high porosity CC. I either risk too much less or too much products that either don't penetrate my lower porosity hair or penetrate it too much and let it weigh down by so much products. So the happy middle it is! If you wash your hair once a week follow this CC 1st week: hydration 2nd week: rekonstruction 3rd week: nutrition 4th week: rekonstruction I'll decide if I buy either conditioner or hair mask though. I'm not happy with hair masks because they're basically conditioners to leave for longer than 2 mins. Meh. My conditioner should contain  - for hydration: any hydrating conditioner (germ. Feuchtigkeit)  - for nutrition: mostly conditioners that contain oils  - for reconstruction: keratin, repair conditioners

I can't braid my hair!

Image
I can't count how many times I've seen this on different YouTube braiding tutorials. I was like: "so what? I can't do fishtail braided double Dutch braids either." Venting for more than 3 years on YouTube I met people who really can't braid, no matter what. I was puzzled because I have scoliosis so it should be more difficult for me to handle my classic long hair that it should be for them handling layered apl-to-waist length hair. Growing my hair longer helped me learning what rough handling is (aka ripping off trough tangles), how our body can be trained to accept natural products, how shampoo commercials lie, etc. The lower half of my hair is thin but it marks the learning process of 23 years of short hair. (Photo w/ the braid) I learned that if you can't do this or that fancy updo is ok. I focus on flat and stable braided buns instead of volume, intricate small braids that would force me to lighten my hair so you can see it. Here are my tips f

Book review: #amreading Die Musik des jenseits by Carolin Sandner

Image
What do you do after reading series? You read  your Facebook friend 's book , because why not: the plot sounds interesting, your husband is probably a hobby music producer and you always wanted to know how some rock bands can create such mysterious music videos about sadness, drugs, hallucinations or suicide. Little spoiler alert, those musicians wrote how they felt, so next time be careful when using terms like emo  for goth or for experimental music Ć  la Bjork , or so. If you check Carolin Sandner's Facebook profile you will see she shares great ballads from bands I only heard them once or twice, but almost never on regular music channels. I started reading Carolin Sandner's book on 13th November (no pun intended) and I read to page 34 from the start. It's a good sign, because I usually read that much in such a short time if a certain book is fast paced with a slow motion effect. Not dwelling on details, using as less words as possible to describe a scene is for

Does my scalp hates shampoo (now)?

I learned from the long hair community how shampoo strips scalp of natural oils, so sebaceous glands in my scalp produce more oils in order to keep hair naturally moisturised. Yes, scalp oils are actually a natural conditioner... Anyway people fuss on greasy hair like it's not natural or something. My hair loves to get greasy and I love how my scalp relaxes after 4th day(!) of not shampooing. Last time I shampooed was in summer, probably mid-July. What was on my mind 3 days ago?! I shampooed again. Why?! I don't know. I thought my hair needs a cleansing because I keep my hair too much in a beanie. Silly me I thought I should get rid of oily hair and have smooth hair instead... not. Today is the 3rd day after washing and my scalp still produces oils like crazy and my ends are so fine, dry and fluffy I mostly finger combed my hair to not risk breakage. Although my hair doesn't feel greasy,  it definitely looks greasy. I tried to massage my scalp, to get rid of some sebum

My go-to bun for sleep (the elling woman bun)

Image
My hair is very long. There, where the hair is so long to reach beyond your buttocks. It's called classic length. So I definitely don't sleep with my hair loose, otherwise I'd wake up with a mass of tangles. I'm also past the length where a braid was enough. I can't sleep in a single position all night long or drag the tailbone length braid from under my back. If I let my tailbone length braid I'd end up with massive breakage in the morning. So I have to protect my ends somehow. So far the elling woman bun is perfect for sleep. It keeps the tassel of my braid pretty much inside the bun. Shampoo makes my hair greasy, conditioner doesn't  Next morning my updo loosened a bit but my braid tassel is still protected inside the bun  Start with a French or Dutch braid. An English or a side braid won't hold your ends inside the bun unless you pin it, which is damaging. Tie your braid (optional) Now pick a loop of the braid, but a loop closer t

Sleeping diaries - series

Chapter 1 Epileptic cat "Kitty!" I called my cat while I put the rest of the canned meat in her bowl. "Kitty!" I called again. Normally my cat was in the kitchen purring on the table while I struggled to open "her" can. How can a cat not hear or smell even if she has to poop? I opened the bathroom door. The lights were off. This has never happened before . There are no windows in my bathroom but it still looks familiar. I turned on the light. " Kitty! " My voice was lowered to a whisper. I knelt beside her and touched her jet black fur. Her body was stiff. I cradled her in my arms, planning to call my parents or my friend Julia who might know a vet. Suddenly I felt her muscles cramping, her heart beating faster her breath harsh. I hold her while she kneaded me repeatedly, then she turned back to her stiff position. My arms were bleeding. I knew by then my cat was epileptic. I put Kitty down, then called Julia. Why couldn't I

Can I train my mind and body to hate meat? GROSS PICTURES ALLERT!

We all know the thing about fridays for future . go vegan and boom! you save the planet. It may be true or not, I don't want your comments about this. But one thing is sure about not eating meat anymore: every doctor agrees you'll live healthier without meat. So how do you stop carving for meat? I asked myself this question is I joined fridays for future. If I try to stop carving for meat I tend carving for sugar more; and if I try to stop eating cookies I carve for meat. I played Pearl's Peril on facebook, level 48 - Cyprus where I saw a barbeque... in the game . Of course I had to think how much consume there was in 1930, when modernism was just fresh in the high society and how today we have to live like in the biblical times where meat was difficult to hunt and consume at a large scale. I'm going furthrer with my imagination while playing this game and I remember how much I hated when my grandma wanted to buy meat from the butchery. It's not the smell but

Why do we deny climate change?

Image
Scientists as well as the media knew about climate change since the 50's (!), but oil companies and getting rich fast  in an unsustainable economy were further supported by politicians. Fast forward to 2018, when Greta Thunberg started "her" Fridays for future , scientists and ecologists all around the world got courage to tell the truth . The reason why we keep denying climate change is because we did nothing since the 50's and now, suddenly, all we hear and read is that we're going extinct in 30 to 100 years! (Don't forget the point-of-no-return happening in probably 30 years if we're lucky(!)) The Paris Agreement was signed just few years ago, but all went well until some kids started demanding from politicians to do something about the earth warming. Yeah! like those politicians would ever care about us; now I even have to give up eating animal produce and driving my car to work (mostly 40 km away from home) to sustain an unsustainable economy .

I'm giving up one of this month's projects

My job is too stressful, so I'm giving up the history project . Anyway, this project is better for students, so if you are a student or you simply have time for such a big project, go for it. I'll continue my own instead. I still look forward to create a page on blogger.com so I can share everything I do in a catalogue-like arrangement: I want to sell/giveaway on Patreon some old books nobody seems to care about anymore but it would be a shame to throw them away. I want to either sell old clothes I don't like, therefore never worn and never will or even make some diy tutorials regarding recycling of old rags/clothes. I want to let you know about my photography and where it is available. I've already blogged about my photos and shared links but there's a long search on my blog for that. Plus, my I want to share my photos for free, with CC (creative commons) so you can use them whenever you want, wherever you want. Yes, you may actually use them or a part of them

My first contribution on wikipedia/wikimedia

Today I uploaded my first photo on wikimedia commons. I hope this link works for you because I can't log off my wikimedia account and view my profile as someone else. Anyway,  this means I'm getting more and more popular as (hobby) photographer. The bigger surprise for me came after  I finished uploading my photo. It's about challenges ! (Again,  I don't know if links from wikimedia are available for those who don't have an account or are not logged in). Challenges like GuruShots , where professional and hobby photographers alike upload their best photos to get a little insight as photographers. I'm in! I just found another site where I can get a lot of views, be motivated by challenges and good quality photos and I don't get my inbox spammed with each and every like I receive (I'm talking about Instagram, where I had the feeling they don't even check my photos! Too many likes in too short time can't be something serious right?).

Upcoming projects this month

Image
I have enrolled myself in two projects for now this month. The first one I found is a project by Wikipedia . I can't wait to find the time to grab my tablet and check out that special 3D photo feature! Speaking of which, I'll share more 3D photos that I love and don't have anything to do with a contest. The second project is for anyone - no matter the nationality, religion, job, etc. So basically a get-together for everyone who loves history. Isn't wonderful? I'll have to take it easy as I have a stressful job and these projects just come in a time when I almost gave up photography to focus on a real job no matter what. These two projects are a reminder for me to not give up on my passions. https://ko-fi.com/luisahx Or support me on patreon . You don't have either patreon or ko-fi? Could this photo be my first viral content?

Image
I know I was lucky to find a great #writerscommunty that gave me a #bookboost on twitter and I can't thank you all enough for this. You guys actually made me realize I already experienced my content being viral even before we met. Candle It was posted on Facebook one day before Christmas to wish my friends a merry Christmas. I wanted to share my work, my content instead of typical Facebook/social media content. But I have a problem. You see, with all that marketing, millions of views and subscribers, creators that post videos twice a week, etc. I didn't realize, my photo, having 94 likes and 33 comments is also viral. It's viral because I tagged as many friends as I could (probably all the friends I had by then) and Facebook shared my content with friends of my friends. These two facts - being popular on twitter and realising that my content is also viral - encouraged my since today to create more content. I'll try my best to create while keeping up the Work-

Becoming popular online

Image
Because my husband is busy working on projects, I decided to share his youtube and soundcloud links to promote his work as an artist and aquire subscribers. I already joined certain group s some time ago but they were never active until the beginning of this year. Now these groups are so active I receives so many notifications I can't even follow anymore. I mean we receive a lot of subscribing requests and we are thankful for it. I am just begining to get more subscribers on twitter . #WritingCommunity has so many wonderful active #writers who makes #bookboost even more fun. It's not like I only spend time on social media without actually working on projects . I'm co-writer on my husband's projects , which means if I have an idea that could be useful for one of our projects, again, I forget about social media and focus on writing. I am also a hobby-photographer so naturally I have a little photography community on GuruShots , viewbug and pixoto , where

Layers, feathered cuts and... Step cuts?

Image
I just wanted to know why people say layers make your hair voluminous and manageable... and " effortless " (what a gag btw) while the bottom half of my hair is a chore to detangle sometimes, "thanks" to layers. After cca. an hour of research I stumbled upon a "new" type of haircut called step cut . This step cut is supposed to give bounce (whatever this supposed to be anyway) to your hair, whereas layers are just some short hair strands to flatter your face or something. I feel like when I had short hair I had almost curly hair, again thanks to layers, step cut  or whatever chopped off mess people can do out of hair in general. Now that my hair grew at least to bsl/mbl (bra strap to mid-back for people who are not familiar with the long hair community ), I found out that my hair appears to be some kind of poofy straight instead of Shakira-wavy! Dec. 2017, waist length. Straight 'till collarbone length, wavy length and kinda curly ends I thi

GuruShots exhibition challenges

Image
I decided to participate on GuruShots exhibition challenges even though right now I don't have money to participate. I find it interesting to see how good my photos are and if they have a chance to win an exhibition. When I will gather the money and the experience I will subscribe and travel to the place where my photo will be exhibited. Right now my photos are mostly on elite level in exhibition challenges. I wanted to create accounts on gofoundme, kofi or patreon, but I hate having to blog all over the place so I guess you can help me with a donation directly on my paypal , without any fuss and fees on other websites. As I also see, due to changing my blogger website I lost all my subscribers. Thanks a bunch, google, you can't even redirect a thing... anyway, I hope it stays like this for a very long time so I can gather my friends together again on this new blogspot link.

DIY water reserve for your plants

I created a short video to show you how to do a water reserve for plants. This system works on both potted and garden plants. Read the video description to find out more.

My view on "Why Native Americans Keep Their Hair Long"

Image
People think it's like "grow my hair and I become a half-god like hercule or thor or jesus". No, it doesn't work like that. I can tell you for a fact that my hair feels natural, like part of my body sicne it grew long. Since it grew to cbl and layed flat I felt how my scalp is actually having a rest, relaxes in a way no massage can do. I can also tell you for a fact that my body needs long hair because I got rid of trichotilomania since my hair reached mbl. My mind and my concentration is at highest level when I have my hair braided or bunned. No wonder about the chinese cue for me . My hair still feels short, so yes, my body needs longer hair. Ok now back to the article. I think people missunderstand sences overall. How many people today know something about intuition? unless it is of course the feminine intuition to know that men need love? lol I'm 100% sure the article refers to a progress, to an evolution of mankind: those with long hair have

Child Protection packaging

Image
I bought a simple honey pot from a supermarketand I had serious problem figuring out how to open the package in the first place . Then my husband tried to open the package but he hurt his fingers. So it's actually more important to protect lazy adults from taking care of their children, than to educate the population about taking care of themselves. I am beginning to  have the fear to buy a product because I don't know if I can open the package. I lived at the border of Bukarest, where people still had a small farm. My grandma had chickens, hens, a rooster, pigeons, ducks and a dog at one time or another. I learned that my grandma used some pink grains  against rats. Yes, where there is a farm, there are definitely also rats who'd love to eat a chicken. When my grandma told me I am not allowed to check out this or that place, I DIDN'T! She explained to me the things I explained to you above, and that's it. I didn't even need to cry, shout, destroy things

We need our nature back

Image
It was never so bad as this year (yes, 2019). My neighbors began cutting down trees and hedges all over the area. Since 4 years ago, since I live here I saw yet another tree gone, yet another hedge replaced with wood fences. I mean what's the idea behind it? Why cutting trees to create wood fences? Just because they don't want to sweep the fallen leaves once a year probably? courtesy of web.de The areas where I live and work have become empty without those magestic trees and bushes . These trees still exist, thank God. Unfortunatelly I am not allowed to show you much of my area, because it's private area... you know... Of course people actually complained about the fact that they should leave nature alone. Many of those comments don't even have anything to do with the article. Insert German lesson of the day: meckern (complaining). Honestly I am prepared not to hear any more electric saw in summer. Have a nice day and let me know if you think this

Welcome to my humble second EFIT ! šŸ˜Š 7:30 I like to up do my sleep braid in winter. It's easy to braid your hair for sleep at night and wrap it in a bun in the morning; a job in a matter of seconds, really. Helpful when you are still sleepy to fuss on your hair in the morning. 8:30 This was the second snow though. But it lasted for few hours this time. 09:30 It was really cold though, I am glad I have good winter clothes. It was definitely -1C but then I couldn't make these photos without snow and cold. 10:30 It wasn't much snow on the streets, maybe just 1 cm thick; there will never be such thick snow as in Bavaria (at least I hope so) šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜ØšŸ˜³ 11:30 I played with zoom like crazy. buy original https://www.pixoto.com/images-photography/nature-up-close/other-plants/dead-chestnuts-5755164695461888 12:30 I was going back home when I saw birds on a tree nearby. I tested my camera for the first time with these models... er... birds.

It's 23.01, so it's time for something called EFIT 06:45 GšŸ˜²šŸ˜³d morning everyone! Or moin, or hi from North-West Germany! Usually when I wake up it's still dark. I edited this photo in multiple ways and I think some of them would look good as album cover or so 07:45 When I go outside it's still foggy and chill. 9:45 Coffee time this photo I shot in 2014 but I am not to photograph when I am at work 10:45 Right after a short break. I usually drink tea or read a magazine, but when I am in the mood I happen to take some photos . 14:45 On the way  home: I usually like to take some nature photos. 15:45 I also like to spend some time editing my photos.   16:45 Sometimes I receive a copy of Der Hausarzt Magazin , where I publish my photographs. The pink shery and the forget-me-not flowers are mine : 17:45 After I edit some photos I usually upload them on Facebook groups or photo contest websites 18:45 I happened to get
